Gas Injection Molding uses a partial shot of plastic and then high-pressure gas to finish filling the mold cavity with the plastic. This process gives designers flexibility they have not previously had in designing plastic parts and it also results in a lower cost and higher quality part.

Tooling Cost - moderate to high due to reduced molding pressure Part Cost - low Production rate - high Design Flexibility due to elimination of sink and internal part stresses associated with high pressure filling. Press size is reduced due to lower molding pressures. Cycle time is reduced because thinner walls cool faster.
